Dr Who Advent-ure CalendarOk, so we’re about a week away from Christmas, however, I just found this Dr Who Advent-ure calendar thanks to No Strings Attached, that is pretty fun. Each little door opens up onto more cool little Dr Who tidbits, interviews, trailers, and little games. Very fun to check out!

Reaper

ReaperFor all you Reaper fans, Dreamwatch has a nice piece on Reaper. I have to admit, I haven’t seen this show yet. I pretty much gave up on the CW when they gave up on Veronica Mars. That said, Ray Wise AKA The Man Who Killed Laura Palmer in Twin Peaks is a brilliant actor and I can’t think of a better choice to play the devil.

Battlestar Galactica Season Four Preview

Battlestar Galactica Season Four PreviewDreamwatch has a cool article previewing what’s to come on season four of Battlestar Galactica whenever that is set to air. For those who aren’t up on the show, there are most definitely spoilers in that article, although mostly they just speculate on what’s ahead being that the writers have a lot of loose ends to tie up before Galactica’s final episode.

The Women of Whedon

Originally published at Better Living Through Science Fiction. Please leave any comments there.

The Women of WhedonThe LA Times has a funny thing on Joss Whedon’s “favorite female creations” that’s cool to check out and also mentions a little more about his new show with Eliza Dushku, Dollhouse. Here’s to hoping that the WGA strike gets sorted out soon so that we are able to worship once again at the altar of Whedon.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor Review

Originally published at Better Living Through Science Fiction. Please leave any comments there.

Razor ReviewStrange Horizons has a very interesting review of Battlestar Galactica: Razor that’s worth looking at. Thanks to Mary, for sending me that one! I haven’t seen this Razor; I’m still pretty behind on Galactica, though I am familiar with the Pegasus story arc. Done right, I think a little more background on Cain and how she became the homicidal commander that we see by the time Galactica meets up with her, would be a really cool story. What did you guys think of Razor?

Harry Potter Films Under The Scope

Harry Potter Films Under The Scope
An intriguing interactive tidbit was posted on the New York Times webpage in July that I just now came across. It features several videos from the movies within the Harry Potter series along with commentary from A.O. Scott andManohla Dargis about how the films have evolved. The interactive feature also has quite a bit of chatter about “genre conventions” and the pedigree of all those British thespians at work in the series. An article accompanies it.

UNIT “Protecting Humanity No Matter How Far it Takes Us.”It’s been some weeks since the season finale of Dr. Who aired on the Sci Fi Channel. Even so, I thought this was worth looking at. In case some of you were wondering who the mysterious UNIT is with their flying aircraft carrier called the Valiant that protects our skies from alien invasions, this is them. Just remember, it’s supposed to be Top Secret.

It never hurts to be well-prepared and with th Emergency Zombie Defense Kit you’re always one step ahead of those crafty little brain-eaters. The kit includes a shield, a shotgun, several shells and a knife. I really wish this was a mass-market product and not something someone just made in their spare time. I want to […]

Halloween Movies on AMC
One of the nice things about being On-Demand is that we can plug other people’s lineups without feeling guilty about it. I’ve been watching AMC all day after being turned on to their schedule by “Oods” on our forum (Read Thread). I have to say, they’ve been doing some amazing stuff.

Well folks, Illusion has gone green(er). It’s now official that we’re offsetting more carbon than we’re making!
We’ve joined Discovery Networks in partnering with Carbonfund.org to help keep our environment footprint non-existant.
However, we’ve gone a few steps above and beyond too by:

Archiving all of our programming on USB drive instead of miles upon miles of non-biodegradable tape.
Using communal office space […]

Urusei Yatsura Beautiful Dreamer
In November we’re playing Urusei Yatsura Beautiful Dreamer, the second Ususei Yatsura movie. We love us some Lum. That should go without saying. She’s one of our favorite space princesses. We also love us some Oshii (Ghost in the Shell is incredible)… so in honor of all things authentic we’ve posted the original Japanese trailer.

Sci-Fi Fantasy
I was talking with a science ficiton editor the other day and we were discussing the on-going debate between hard sci-fi and fantasy in the world of literature. I love the old school writers like Dick and Campbell who had a grounding in scientific theory for their writing, but something caught my attention about the […]

In my pervious list of sci-fi mutants I realized I had forgotten to place some of the best mutants in the multiverse… the telekineticly powered remains of the human race that dwell within the forbidden zone.
These mutants who reside on the ape-dominated future Earth worship a nuclear missle as their god and can conjur illusions in […]
