We want to give a big shout-out to our own s0nified for winning team USA in the World Cosplay Summit! She and her team are going on to Japan to compete in the WCS finals. She did and her teammates did an amazing job and everyone Illusion is excited that they’re going overseas to show those Japanese cosplayers what’s what!

We’re officially soft launching our community space. I know we said we wouldn’t do one… yada yada yada, well… we’ve gotten emails asking for one and one of our primary objectives is to listen to what you guys want. So, tada! Message boards!
In honor of this awesomeness we’re holding an Anime Avatar Art Contest. We have 30 bundles of E-Frontier’s Manga / Anime Studio burning a whole in our pocket and we want to give them to the top 30 original avatar designs.
The rules are simple. All art must be original, no graphic violence and no sexual content. Submissions must be smaller than 80px X 80px and weigh in under 6kb in either Jpeg or gif format.
HOW TO ENTER:
Just visit our community space at http://www.illusiontv.com/community and register using your avatar design as your forum avatar. After two weeks we’ll announce our favorites!
If anyone else feels like joining the forums too, please do. We won’t be linking them from our main site navigation until the first week of November though.

In November we’re playing Urusei Yatsura Beautiful Dreamer, the second Ususei Yatsura movie. We love us some Lum. That should go without saying. She’s one of our favorite space princesses. We also love us some Oshii (Ghost in the Shell is incredible)… so in honor of all things authentic we’ve posted the original Japanese trailer.

The World Cosplay Summit is coming to New York in December and the compeition is tough. That’s why we’re proud to present our “World Cosplay Smackdown”. If you’re going to be competing in NYC at the World Cosplay Summit finals, you can log on and upload a video to psych-out your competitors. Our friends over at New York Anime Festival have been working long and hard to bring the World Cosplay Summit back to the United States in a bid for USA to compete against countries such as Italy, Germany, Spain, Mexico, and Japan in Nagoya, Japan.
The World Cosplay Summit began in the fall of 2003. Born from the concept that cosplayers play a leading role in introducing Japanese manga and animation to people around the world, the event wanted to bring international cosplayers “home” to Japan to showcase their costumes and skill. The event is held annually, with preliminary competitions taking place around the world - and the Championships taking place each summer in Japan. Each year, judges include creators of some of Japan’s most iconic anime and manga, and past judges have included Leiji Matsumoto, Go Nagai, and Monkey Punch.
In 2007, Brazil, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Mexico, Singapore, Spain, Thailand and Japan all participated in the World Cosplay Summit. The winners of Anime Insider and World Cosplay Summit Masquerade crowned at the New York Anime Festial will fly to Japan to serve as Team USA in the 2008 Championships.
What an amazing opportunity for cosplayers to go out to Japan to where it all began and to showcase their creations to the masses. Good luck to all those competing and let’s go Team USA!
